Descriptions of Nomination Categories:
Fire Safety Hero
Presented to a professional or volunteer firefighter whose lifesaving action went above and beyond the call of duty, or to a citizen whose lifesaving action involved a fire.
Law Enforcement Hero
Presented to a law enforcement agent whose lifesaving action went above and beyond the call of duty.
Medical Hero
Presented to a medical professional, an organization or citizen whose lifesaving action went above and beyond the call of duty.
911 Dispatch Hero
Presented to a 911 dispatcher whose lifesaving action went above and beyond the call of duty.
Adult Good Samaritan Hero (18 years and older)
Presented to a citizen who used lifesaving training skills to save someone’s life, or who otherwise made the community a safer place to live.
Youth Good Samaritan Hero (17 years and younger)
Presented to a citizen who used lifesaving training skills to save someone’s life, or who otherwise made a difference in the community.
Military Hero
Presented to a member of the armed forces (active or retired, commissioned or noncommissioned) whose heroic action went above and beyond the call of duty.
Animal Rescue Hero
Presented to a citizen who used lifesaving training skills to save an animal’s life, or to an animal that helped save a human’s life.
Community Impact Hero
Presented to an individual, community group, neighborhood organization or local company that demonstrated a commitment to making a difference in the community.
