Descriptions of Nomination Categories:
First Responder Hero: Award is presented to a fire fighter, law enforcement professional, paramedic, emergency medical services (EMS) representative or other medical professional, who is also a veteran, reservist, or active duty military member, that has exhibited heroic efforts, acting above and beyond the call of duty, to save the life of another or prevent serious injury, or is/was involved in an ongoing commitment to their community through acts of kindness, courage, or selflessness in response to an identified need.
Veteran Care & Advocacy Hero: Recognizes an individual, family member, caregiver, advocate, or organization that demonstrates extraordinary commitment to supporting wounded, ill, or injured veterans and their families.
Veteran Corporate Leadership Award: Recognizes a corporation, veteran ERG, or business leader that demonstrates outstanding commitment to supporting veterans and military families through inclusive workplace practices, career development opportunities, community engagement, philanthropy, and advocacy.
Veteran Hero: Award is presented to an individual who continues to serve after their military service by giving back to other veterans or making outstanding contributions to our society.
Good Samaritan Hero: Award is presented to an individual who voluntarily rendered aid to another in distress under no duty to do so. While not required, the act may have involved saving the life of another person or an animal, but should be in response to an unusual, significant, or unexpected event.
