Every now and then, an unselfish and extraordinary action on behalf of a neighbor, a coworker, or even a stranger can change another person’s destiny or make an impact on the community. In that moment, ordinary people become Real Heroes. The American Red Cross is honored to salute these unsung heroes.
Do you know someone who has saved a life through extraordinary action or preparedness? Now is your chance to honor them! The American Red Cross of Western New York is seeking nominations for this fall’s Fourth Annual Western New York Real Heroes Event.

Nomination Guidelines
- Nominees must live in, or the action must have occurred in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans or Wyoming Counties.
- Nominees must be available for videotaped interviews, should they be selected.
- Nominees must be amicable to promotion of this event through various media platforms (social media, print, signage, and TV), should they be selected.
- Nominees must be able to attend the recognition event, should they be selected.
